2 PLAYERS – ONE BALL – A LEVEL PLAYING FIELD

SUPA PUNT™ – THE GAME

The aim of the game of Supa Punt™ is to kick the ball over your opposing players goal line which wins the end by scoring a point. The game is simple and has two main rules which help definite it:

1) The two meter band

2) The seven second rule

OTHER RULES INCLUDE:

3) Catching on the full

4) The sideline

5) Determining the position for the first kick

6) Scoring

1) THE TWO METER BAND
  • Players are allowed to move sideways (or across the field) behind a line created from where a player gathers the ball.
  • Players can move backwards or away from the opposition goal line while in possession of the ball, but they should not move forwards or towards the opposition goal line more than two meters while moving in to kick.
  • If the ball is knocked forward, the return kick should be taken in line with the point of first contact.
  • If the ball is knocked back, the return kick should be taken in line with where the ball is re-gathered.
2) THE SEVEN SECOND RULE
  • From the time of first contact with the ball, a player is allowed no more than seven seconds to return kick.
  • If contact with the ball is not made before the ball reaches a standstill, the seven seconds will start at that time.
3) CATCHING ON THE FULL
  • If a receiving player catches the ball on the full they are allowed to advance their position five meters towards the opposition goal line.
  • As under normal playing rules, the ball must be kicked within seven seconds and the player cannot run onto the kick by more than two meters.
4) THE SIDELINE
  • If the ball crosses the sideline it is returned to the opposing player at the point where it crossed the sideline.
  • The opposing player then has seven seconds from receiving the ball at the sideline in which to return kick. This does not include the time it takes to retrieve the ball.
5) DETERMINING THE POSITION FOR THE FIRST KICK
  • The first kick is taken by the player with the longest kick from whichever end that player chooses.
  • The position for the first kick is determined by taking the distance that that player can kick the ball, under normal playing rules, out of the middle of the field.
Example: If that player can kick the ball 40 meters to the point of first contact with the ground under normal playing rules, 40 meters is then taken out of the middle of the playing field, creating two lines that that player can choose to take the first kick from.
  • Upon starting the game that player has seven seconds in which to take the first kick, and cannot run onto the kick by more than two meters.
6) SCORING
  • There are a number of ways to score the game, depending on what type of field you are playing on, and how long you want to play for.
  • In order to even out any advantage there may be in conditions at one end, after the first end has been played and won, players should change ends, therefore playing a minimum of two ends.
  • In this case, the first player to win two consecutive ends (or two in a row), wins the match.
